Hosea appears to be living in and around the time of 750 BCE, just before the Assyrians come to reign hell upon the 9-1/2 tribes of Israel. It is often said that 10 Tribes split off, I at this time prefer to say 9-1/2, with the 1/2 tribe being of Levi (no actual documentation), but the priests of the Levites served all the tribes, and thus at the split many of the Levites would have split with those they knew, which leaves 2-1/2 tribes in the South, Judah, Benjamin, and the other 1/2 Tribe of Levi. This is one of the side studies I’m working on. The split occurred some 200 years prior to Hosea.

Ephraim, was the youngest son of Joseph, bless by his Grandfather, Jacob, Israel, when Joseph had placed the two boys before their Grandfather so that the eldest boy would be blessed. Ephraim was 1/2 Egyptian through his mother, a daughter of the priest of “on”. GOD works in mysterious ways !!!!

This mixing of bloodlines becomes important as one studies Ezra and the formation of judaism, based strictly on the letter of the law. For Ezra commanded that all women and children of foreign blood should be cast out. I always found it interesting that the foreign men were not cast out !!!!

How much of the tribe of Ephraim must of heard the stories of Egypt and their ancestor Joseph and his power, authority, and wealth in Egypt. Joseph died in Egypt. Would they have longed for home ??? Did that longing drive them away from GOD ???

Now lets Compare mpt to the other verses:

“pampered” v. “taught”

GOD WILL TEACH any one who wants to learn !!!!

So “pampered” has a much different meaning, look back at the blessing, the man of ISRAEL, gave to Ephraim, and GOD HONORED that blessing by taking them up in HIS ARMS.

“ignored” v. “knew not”

“ignored” means they knew but turned away, and GOD would JUDGE them accordingly.

“knew not” means they had no idea so how can they be judged for not knowing ???

Isn’t there an old saying, “Ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law !” ???

Contemplation:

1. Has GOD pampered you ????

2. You may say no, but consider the next contemplation !!!!!!!

3. “I CAME to CAST FIRE upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled! I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how I AM constrained until it is accomplished!” Luke 12.49-50. Please go and read on through 12.53.

4. Are you prepared to be TAKEN UP IN THE ARMS OF GOD ????

5. Are you prepared to be separated and divided from your family and friends ????

6. Or will you ignore going to GOD one on ONE face to FACE for healing without religions of men until GOD is CONSTRAINED NO MORE ????
