Ezek.22 olrsv
[26] Her priests have done violence to my law and have profaned my holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they taught the difference between the unclean and the clean, and they have disregarded my sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.

Ezek.22 mprsv
[26] Her priests have done violence to my law and have profaned my holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they taught the difference between the unclean and the clean, and they have disregarded my sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.

Ezek.22 olt
[26] Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

Ezek.22 mpt
[26] Her priests have violated MY TEACHING: they have profaned what is SACRED TO ME, they have not distinguished between the SACRED and profane, they have not taught the difference between the unclean and clean, and they have closed their eyes to MY SABBATHS. I AM profaned in their midst.

Where Ezekiel came from is not clear, but he is speaking to the exciles in Babylon. Some will say from the tribe of Judah, but Jerusalem has not yet been taken by Nebuchadnezzar. So Jeremiah is active in Jerusalem at the time of Ezekiel.

If you go by the opening of the the book of Ezekiel and the reference to the Chebar Canal and 2 Kings 17.6 Ezekiel may be from the tribes of Israel that split from Judah. It is often said that 10 Tribes split off, I at this time prefer to say 9-1/2, with the 1/2 tribe being of Levi (no actual documentation), but the priests of the Levites served all the tribes, and thus at the split many of the Levites would have split with those they knew, which leaves 2-1/2 tribes in the South, Judah, Benjamin, and the other 1/2 Tribe of Levi. This is one of the side studies I’m working on. The split occurred some 330 years prior to Ezekiel.

The bloodline of Ezekiel is not critical, because his message relates to the conditional PROMISES OF GOD, Deuteronomy 30.17-20. [17] “But if your heart turns away and you give no heed, and are lured into the worship and service of other gods,” [18] “I DECLARE to you this day that you shall certainly perish; you shall not long endure on the soil that you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.” [19] “I call HEAVEN and earth to witness against you this day: I have put before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose life—-if you and your offspring would live—-[20]by loving the LORD your GOD, heeding HIS COMMANDS, and holding fast to HIM. …” This was fulfilled in ii Chronicles 36.16. This is of what BIGWOR is all about, returning to WORSHIP GOD without men’s religions.

It is worthwhile to study the verses that wrap this one, so please go and read Ezekiel 22.23-31 before you continue. As you should have seen by now I prefer my paper tanakh (mpt) which is the jps tanakh blue.

Now lets Compare the verses:

The tanakhs are similar, but different from the rsvs.

“violated” v. “done violence”

The first “violated” means you have broken the LAW OF GOD !!!!!

The second “done violence” means, “so we changed it a little, we still claim to follow GOD with our god, our religion !!!”

And this latter theme continues in the comparison:

“profaned what is SACRED TO ME” v. “profaned my holy things”

“SACRED and profane” v. “holy and common”

“closed their eyes to” v. “disregarded” MY SABBATHS !!!

Become blind to versus just ignore !!!

I feel the jps tanakh blue is much more aligned with the SPIRIT OF GOD and what HE EXPECTS of us !!!! Just look at:

THE 3RD LAW OF GOD: Exodus 20.7. “You shall not b-swear falsely by-b the NAME of the LORD your GOD; for the LORD will not clear one who swears falsely by HIS NAME.” mpt

Contemplation:

1. Have you violated the TEACHINGS OF GOD ??????

2. Have you profaned what is SACRED ??????

3. Have you not distinguished between the SACRED and profane ??????

4. Have you taught your children the difference between unclean and CLEAN ??????

5. Have you closed your eyes to GOD’S SABBATHS ??????

6. Have you closed your children’s eyes to GOD’S SABBATHS ??????

7. Have you profaned GOD ??????

8. Have you been false to GOD ???????
