Contemplation:
1. esv makes no changes !!!
2. JESUS is in the 2ND temple and in an identified special part of the temple: the treasury !!!!!!
3. Nebuchadnezzar took all the treasury of the 1ST temple including all the HOLY things to GOD, but maybe the ARCH !!!!!!
4. With all the temple taxes (operating costs and fees for the priests, pharisees, sadducess, and scribes); skimming of the cream for oneself; and Roman taxes, JESUS found the treasury full of money changers and robbers and thieves ?????? Not unlike governments and banks of the world today !!!!
5. This verse has special emphasis. Go back and read starting at Chapter 7 to this verse, it is a short read.
6. The rulers of the religion of judaism were seeking to arrest him in Judea, just a tiny area as compared to the once Great Israel of 1,000 years before under Solomon who built the 1ST TEMPLE, yet there GOD STOOD in their religious house, at their money box, and they would not arrest HIM, they waited until a dark night to come, PASSOVER !!!!!!!
7. priests: where to be butchers and bakers !
8. sadducess: a sect of the religion of judaism at the TIME GOD WAS in their midst that denied the resurrection of the dead, the existence of spirits, and the obligation of oral tradition, emphasizing acceptance of the written law alone: their god was the law ! One might align these with the democrats in the USA !
9. pharisees: a sect of the religion of judaism at the TIME GOD WAS in their midst with strict observance of the traditional and written law, and commonly held to have pretensions to superior sanctity: self-righteous hypocrites ! one might align these with the republicans in the USA !
10. scribes: the jewish record-keeper of the law and interpretations, a professional theologian (an expert in religious faith, practice, and experience) and jurist (an expert in the law) ! The linage of the high priests of the religion of judaism starting with Ezra, who became ruler around 6 Century BCE !! One might align these with the judges in the USA !
11. The lawyers must then be the butchers and bakers ?
12. Look back at these, where ever you are in the world, and ask yourself: “Here I sit in the temple of my religion, which side of the isle am I on ?”
13. Or are you just a “sacrifice” being lead to slaughter because you worship your religion and claim ownership to the WAY TO GOD in violation of the 1ST LAW OF GOD that you claim to be the foundation of your law ???
